Project Case Studies
Household leads war on waste
A local household was recruited to the project as a result of existing communications with MEA on a solar panel for the church. MEA identified the owners as a good opportunity for saving energy.
The property was built before 1900, is Listed and located in a Conservation Area. Wall insulation is therefore not viable. However the household was keen to take any action possible and since the audit, has switched off standby, replaced an old refrigerator that had a broken door seal, increased insulation in the small roof space, replaced the boiler and in July 2007 replaced 17 inefficient with low energy bulbs.
Already the household is excellent with sustainable transport - rarely using their one car and instead travelling on foot and by train.
