Redevelopment creates sustainable energy opportunities

This case study is focused on a unique example of household because the householder was not living in the house (which he plans to redevelop) at the time of recruitment, rather in a second house purchased the previous year.

Although information on transport was readily available, this was not true for the dwelling. The role for Eco n’Home in this example is as a consultant on development proposals in order that sustainable energy is made a priority from the start. This case study demonstrates the opportunities for a dwelling but because the development work will be completed after the project duration, values for actual energy saved will not be available.

Good results have already emerged from advice given on the heating system and insulation. A condensing boiler is planned as a priority together with 1200mm floor insulation. Opportunities for renewable energy have also been discussed but are limited because the dwelling is an apartment.
