Owners cut 50% off their gas consumption!

The owners of a house dating back to 1930 wanted to improve the energy efficiency of their house due to the large gas consumption of 54,500 kWh annually. The initial audit of the house revealed that the central heating system, which heated three storeys, suffered from bad distribution and inefficient usage. The majority of the radiators were stuck on the maximum setting; causing the rooms to be over-heated. The owners were therefore forced to open windows, wasting large amounts of energy. Following the audit, the owners decided to install double glazing and unblocked the radiators. They also adjusted the boiler temperature. Thus, their gas consumption was reduced by 28% and the householder’s thermal comfort was increased. The owners have also decided to insulate the walls and install a solar hot water system. Overall, this will lead to a reduction of 50% in their gas consumption in relation to their initial consumption.
