Introduction
Delivery of Eco n'Home took place over 36 months beginning in January 2006 and ending in December 2008.
Although many activities were continuous, this period can be divided broadly into four sections:
1. Development
2. Diagnosis
3. Implementation
4. Evaluation
Development
Firstly, current methods of giving energy advice to householders across Europe were studied and compared, including different types of electronic monitoring tools. A common methodology was produced for all the countries to use, including tools such as record sheets for energy audits, the household report and action plan.
Households were selected and registered to the project for implementation.
Diagnosis
Once the framework and resources had been created and households recruited, investigation and diagnosis by partners began!
The diagnosis stage established the energy and carbon 'baseline' and is explained in more detail in the "Diagnosis" section, where examples of project documents can also be viewed.
Implementation
This phase began on return of the Action Plan by the household to their energy adviser and lasted for twelve months.
During this period, the household was provided with information, advice and support to assist them in undertaking the actions in which they expressed interest. This advice may be through documents, resources and publications, presentations, workshops and events, or access to installers and financial support.
In addition, partners requested from each household periodic readings of energy meters or the on-line recording of data, so that the impact of any actions could be better understood.
Evaluation
The evaluation phase involved analysis of actions undertaken and the change in the baseline as Negawatts and carbon savings in each household.
The Eco n'Home service as a whole was then evaluated with comparisons between different partner areas and different methodologies used.
This stage is explained in more detail in the "Results and Evaluation" section of this site.
