Diagnosis
Each household received a visit involving an audit of energy usage in the home and transport. Energy usage was calculated by analysing historical energy bills and meter readings, and measuring devices were used where necessary. The audit involved assessing building fabric, heating systems, lighting and electrical appliances.
A common data collection form (below) guaranteed efficiency and effectiveness by all partners to inform the implementation and evaluation stages.
Data is used by partners to identify for each household:
- actual annual energy consumption for heat, power and travel
- an individual household carbon footprint (kg/year)
- specific recommendations for actions to reduce their consumption and footprint, and savings from each
The household received this information in an individual Household Diagnosis Report (below) together with an Action Plan which after consideration, they return to their adviser.
After diagnosis, the households then had a twelve month period in which to take forward the recommendations listed in their personal Action Plan. After this twelve month period was finished, the household was evaluated to establish which actions had been taken and the savings associated with each.
The household was then presented with an Evaluation Report outlining savings made, their new annual energy consumption figure and carbon footprint.
